The Fruit of the Vine
Lake Michigan’s Shore…The Other West Coast! We’re visiting the wineries of Michigan’s Great Southwest. Five vineyards, all offering wine tasting and some with tours as well:
Warner Vineyards in Paw Paw, called the Midwest’s most picturesque winery. Inside the village’s former water-works building is the visitor tasting room where they offer award winning wines, champagnes and alcohol free sparkling juices. Their self-guided tour will take us to their champagne caves!
Karma Vista Vineyards on a beautiful hillside above Coloma, somewhere between Napa and Bordeaux. Their winery and tasting room are on top of one of the highest hills in Berrien County, where you can watch traffic on the highway far below.
Contessa Wine Cellars, also in Coloma, offers a vast selection of fine wines, served in an elegant tasting room reminiscent of the Italian Villa and offering old world charm and the very best of modern amenities.
The Round Barn Winery and Distillery in Baroda. Their unique 100 year old Amish barn was moved from Indiana, it houses wine tasting and their still for the only estate vodka produced in the US. Beer tasting and the micro-brewery is in a centennial post and beam barn.
Last, but certainly not least, Tabor Hill Winery, where casual walking tours take you along the vineyard and through one of the most modern winemaking facilities in the country. Their cellar theatre offers a video production, you’ll feel like a winemaker yourself.
